You could add the faces of so many other sick, twisted white dudes that have been killing people left and right in this country (Zimmerman, countless police, the guy who murdered abortion provider George Tiller while he was in Church, etc.), while the government and national media’s attention remains squarely focused on vilifying anyone who doesn’t look like these guys.

I’m not for having more police stop-and-frisk anyone, but the point still stands. Why do the police and Homeland Security, etc., attack everyone except white dudes with a penchant for racism, right-wing extremism, or just plain nuttery?

ADDENDUM: Some people have been freaking out because I included George Zimmerman among the white people who engage in racist violence, which is inaccurate, they argue, because he is actually Hispanic. Well, in truth, turns out he is half-Peruvian, half-white (I mean, “Zimmerman”?! Come on! He clearly has either a Jewish or Germanic ancestry with a name like that). In any event, he looks white, and what’s more improtant is that the police who showed up at the scene of the crime indicated his race as “white” in their initial police report. His perceived race is actually more important than his actual race in this instance, because the fact that the cops thought he was white (and he clearly didn’t correct them) goes a long way towards explaining why they treated him so much differently than they did the dead African-American teenager he killed.
